With a potential coronavirus vaccine at least a year away, scientists are investigating medicines as treatment. Remdesivir, originally developed as an anti-viral treatment for Ebola, is being dusted off and repurposed against COVID-19.
Who will be involved in the trials? Those who are already infected with coronavirus are lining up. First will be bats, then pangolins, then Millennials. Pathologist Dr. Gerald Turner from Gilead stated, “We’re simply following the same path the virus used to get here. For the human part, we are using Millennials because most of them probably already have it as they do not heed any guidance from the CDC, or anyone really, and appear to be interested in the $10 per week to participate in the trial.”
