Coronavirus has arrived in Saudi Arabia. As citizens of the kingdom are tested, cases increase. However, interestingly most of the infections have appeared in men. Epidemiological research shows that though women have been as exposed as men, their burqas have acted like natural filters against the pathogen’s airborne droplets. Furthermore, as women in Saudi Arabia lack freedom to travel, choose their own partner, object to violence, obtain regular jobs, or make major decisions, they naturally have less exposure to the virus.
