Diwali, a celebration of lights symbolizing the defeat of good over evil, falls on Saturday, November 14 this year.  However, the results of the US election are playing a part in the timing of the festival.  Area Indian Balaramaprasadanarasimha Rajuvarivenkatarapetaswami explains, “Four years ago we ignorantly celebrated Diwali.  I mean the stock market did great and technically Obama was still president in November.  Things have taken a very, very dark turn and this election is really a referendum on the meaning of Diwali itself!  If good does not win, we just cannot proceed with the celebrations.  We are kindly recommending all Indians freeze their samosas and stand by.”
