Protests are spreading from college to elementary school campuses. Students at Winter Elementary School have formed an encampment and have demanded that their school divest from the district’s nutrition services. Signs all over campus display their concerns:
“ABCs ownlee aftr M&Ms!”
“Sellebrat berfthdays evreeday!”
“Ricess all day!”
“Frum the watr fountane to the puul, skool shuld be kool”
Unlike the bucket system used in college campus protests, these youngsters are using diapers for their sewage. Their tents are more colorful, and half the residents are stuffed animals. These kids are fast learners.
Ava Mancino, leader of the protest, puts down her picket sign to explain their grievances, “I hate to read and write and do math. Teachers force us to do these things everyday like slaves. I bring my whole self, and even Mr. Teddy, to school and want to be respected by getting good candy. No more tasting the rainbow with vegetables! Bring in the gummy bears!” Asked what 2+2 is, Ava replied, “it depends on the context.” Asked how to spell homework, he replied “oppression.” TikTok gets an A+.
